Intro: Stock prices were higher in the three major East European
markets Friday. V-o-A's Barry Wood has more from Prague.
Text: Last week, Prague led the eastern markets higher, this
week it was Budapest. The bux index in Hungary ended the week 60
points higher at, 15-84. That is a rise of four percent. The
Budapest market has touched 1995 highs for six consecutive
sessions. Pharmaceutical companies led the Hungarian market.
In Prague, stocks gained only two points on the week, with the
P-S-E index closing at 428. Before declining Tuesday. The Prague
market had been higher for 12 consecutive trading sessions. In
Warsaw, prices were also higher, with the wig index gaining nine
points on the week to 84 hundred-36. Twenty-eight Polish stocks
were higher, 11 lower and 14 unchanged.
The smaller exchanges were mixed. Sofia was unchanged,
Bratislava was higher and Ljubljana was down by more than one
